Google AI Mode and ChatGPT shopping lean on structured product data — crawlable pages, schema.org Product and Offer markup, identifiers and clear policies. Many stores miss several of these without knowing it. This checklist mirrors exactly what ShopAIReady checks for free.

The 15 checks

  1. HTTPS

    The store is served over HTTPS.

  2. robots.txt present

    A valid /robots.txt exists at the root of the domain.

  3. OAI-SearchBot allowed

    ChatGPT search and shopping use OAI-SearchBot; don't block it in robots.txt.

  4. Googlebot allowed

    Google AI Mode builds on Google Search crawling — Googlebot must reach your pages.

  5. Other AI search bots allowed

    Bingbot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User are not blocked.

  6. Home indexable

    No noindex in meta robots or X-Robots-Tag on the homepage.

  7. Sitemap XML

    A reachable XML sitemap listing your product URLs.

  8. Sitemap declared in robots.txt

    A Sitemap: line in robots.txt points to it.

  9. schema.org Organization / WebSite on home

    JSON-LD identifying your business and site.

  10. schema.org Product on product pages

    JSON-LD Product markup on each product page.

  11. Offer with price, currency and availability

    Offer with price, priceCurrency and availability that match the visible page.

  12. Identifiers (GTIN / MPN) and brand

    Valid gtin or mpn plus brand. Never invent GTINs — leave unknown values empty and fix them at the source.

  13. Title and meta description

    Descriptive <title> and meta description on home and product pages.

  14. Open Graph

    og:title, og:image and og:type present.

  15. Policies

    Returns, shipping, privacy, terms and contact pages linked and crawlable.

Bonus: set a rel="canonical" on every product page so duplicates (variants, tracking parameters) don't split signals.
